Ride Sharing Guide for Riders is an unofficial, illustrated guide to booking and taking rides on the big ride-hailing and taxi apps: Uber, Lyft, Bolt, Grab, DiDi, inDrive and Careem. Learn how to book a ride, understand fares and surge pricing, and ride safely at home or abroad.
This guide is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any ride-hailing company. It explains how the rider apps work; it is not a booking app.

Clear and visual
• Simple drawings on most pages: the trip flow, choosing a good pickup point, how surge pricing changes during the day, checking the plate and car before you get in, and how offer-your-price booking works.
• Numbered steps you can follow while you book a ride.
• Search across every page.
• Light and dark mode.
• Works offline, so you can read it at the airport or abroad without data.
Who it is for
• First-time riders who want to book a ride with confidence.
• Travellers who need to know which ride sharing app works in a new country and how to get a taxi-style ride from the airport.
• Parents, older riders and anyone who wants to understand ride sharing safety features.
• Regular riders who want to save money on fares, avoid cancellation fees and understand surge pricing.
Good to know
Ride types, prices, memberships and safety features vary by country and city, and the apps change often. The guide points out these differences; always check the official app for the current options where you are.
